You might be surprised that Feral Magazine is so expensive. Honestly, so am I.
Turns out, independently producing a limited-edition magazine in Europe is wildly expensive. It's vulgar, quite frankly.
I always imagined charging about half that amount, but sadly, that’s just not realistic. And this is me, doing it solo from my kitchen table. No staff, no fancy office—just me and a tired MacBook trying to hold on for dear life. Can you imagine how much more it’d cost if I had a small team, or some freelancers on retainer? Or if I could afford to compensate my generous contributors, collaborators and models? A boy can dream.
I haven’t added up the countless hours I’ve poured into crafting this magazine (and websites), nor the travel costs, production fees, software licences, taxes and all the other random expenses that come with building something this beautiful.
Yet, despite the mountain of costs, I’ve pushed on. Because I believe Feral MUST exist. There is nothing out there like it. Yes, there are other publications that overlap thematically, and I love and support each one of them—but none have this exact rhythm. Magazines like Feral matter. They symbolise our culture.
And here’s where it stings: It’s a shame that Feral, as a cultural document, is largely inaccessible to the culture it serves.
That’s where you come in. Going forward, Feral will need a sponsor, or funding, or a few generous angels. The more hands that hold me up, the more likely Feral sticks around.
So please, if you can, just buy the magazine. That's a good start.
