Assignment:
I was commissioned by Jameson Irish Whiskey to photograph actor Dominic West. The images were for the "Jameson First Shot" film competition campaign, supporting the winning short film, "The Finish Line," which was shot in Cape Town. My objective was to create a series of compelling portraits and behind-the-scenes stills to support the film and the broader campaign. The challenge was to capture authentic character portraits of a world-renowned actor that aligned with Jameson's brand ethos of heritage, character, and storytelling

Approach & Execution
The shoot took place while Dominic West was in Cape Town filming the blockbuster movie Tomb Raider alongside Alicia Vikander. This meant his schedule was incredibly tight, and our time together had to be efficient and productive. Working with an actor of his calibre, who is constantly in front of a camera, requires an approach that goes beyond simple direction. The key is to build a quick, genuine rapport to capture moments that feel unstaged. Fun fact, he wasn't overly chatty or receptive to small talk. 

Direction: My direction was minimal and conversational. We spoke about surfing, and his work on both the short film and Tomb Raider, which allowed him to relax into the session.

Outcome: The images were used globally across digital platforms and press materials to promote the "Jameson First Shot" competition and celebrate the winning film.
